Many people struggle with issues like procrastination, “not feeling like it”, and other kind of mood issues as if their performance in their work or studies needs to be related to some sort of specific feeling you need to have.There’s no secret regarding this. Get your work dissociated from your mood.

The easiest way to get into the active state on a regular basis is starting to do what needs to be done.

If you need the stars to be aligned and a specific muse to be available for you to be able to do your work, I can assure you that you won’t get much work done.

And this only happens because you have a choice of not doing your work. When you absolutely must do it, there’s no choice available. Just like when you have a deadline of an important project… even if you pull an all nighter, the project must done that Monday morning. And that day, mysteriously, the stars align for you to be able to do the work.

What a coincidence… When you absolutely must do it, then you do it with no excuses and you find your muse.

Hmmm…. that’s certainly interesting!

I have a well known writer friend, who makes a living from writing and he tells me that he never experienced writer’s block. I remember as it was today when he told me: “I can’t tell you my secret Bruno since I don’t have one… I just sit down everyday at the same hour and I start to write”

That’s his “secret”.

Is he a freak of nature? Not really.

He just treats writing as something he needs to do regarding of how he is feeling or if the mood strikes him or not.

And believe me, we all have moods, negative feelings and bad stuff happening in our lives. You’re not a special snowflake with many sensitive issues.

You may not be able to control everything that happens in your life, but you can control what you do. You can control your behaviors and actions.
