“I’m not motivated to do it”

Very often I get an email which says something along the lines of:

“I’m not motivated to do it”

And it could be to do a certain exercise, or to do a certain task for a particular goal, and so on.

The most important thing for you to understand is that you won’t always be motivated to do a certain task, even if it’s something you want to do.

This is where your Will comes in.

The Will is a determination that boosts your own consciousness into doing what you set out to do.

You mobilize your mind, body and energy to one objective.

For most individuals, the Will only pops up when they are already motivated to doing something. If the motivation is not there, they find it hard to gather the necessary Will to accomplish something.

Anyone can use their Will when they are motivated.

Is much harder to gather and focus your Will when motivation is not there. This is where true power lies.

That’s why training your Will with techniques like the Act of Will is so powerful. You get used to focus all of your mind, body and energy into that one single goal especially when motivation is not there.

For using the Will efficiently you shouldn’t seek for the motivation or desire to do a certain thing. Or to reflect, ponder and debate with yourself.

If you are seeking for the motivation or desire to do something, then you’ll keep yourself stuck in a pleasure loop.

You’ll only do things that are immediately pleasurable.

Yet, in life, not everything is immediately pleasurable. Certain things must be done despite not being immediately pleasurable.

That’s why you must own your consciousness. If you set out to do something, you do it.

If you don’t feel the motivation for it, you should override yourself with this strong Will and initiate and finish the task either way.

Reflection is necessary but it comes in a different time than when you set out to do something.

It’s like going shopping when hungry, you’ll always buy more junk food than if you go after lunch. If you start to reflect and debate before doing a task you had set out to do and don’t feel like doing it, you’ll always find problems and reasons not to do it.

Do the reflection and analysis at a different time and NOT when the motivation is already low to begin with.

In that case, do the task first, reflect and debate after.
